Spielman Statement on Job Creation:

As your legislator, I would actively work with the University and its alumni to recruit business expansion in the county. Many alumni want to give something back to the community and there are those alumni who are in positions of power within the corporate world. We need to tap into this wealth from our IUP alumni to bring jobs, good paying jobs, with a sustainable future here to the Indiana area.

I also wouldn’t let opportunities pass us by like the recently announced ethanol plant that is going to Clearfield county. It is anticipated this plant will employ up to 500 people with good wages. I believe companies and manufacturing plants can be brought to this region as we have a wealth of resources including our workforce and IUP graduates.

I would take action to promote business growth and expansion of our established businesses. There are incentives our elected officials can offer to help businesses expand or stay in the area. We should have saved the jobs lost at Fisher Scientific and FMC. The political leadership here in Indiana would have you believe that these jobs were lost due to the plants being union. That is in error as Fisher, a union facility, relocated to a union plant in Arkansas. FMC, a non-union facility, is being located to a union facility down south.
